Music Tuition

Violin tuition

Lessons are structured around specific learning objectives and pupils are encouraged to work towards exams which promote musical progression.

However, tuition is also student centred and flexibility is key to our approach, recognising not everyone wants to take exams. Therefore a wide range of resources can be used in addition to, or instead of exam materials such as duet playing and more light hearted musical repertoire which may concentrate on specific musical styles or genres.

Lessons are delivered in a relaxed and informal learning environment with emphasis on fun and well being as well as learning.

Piano tuition

As with violin tuition, piano lessons are based around what students wish to achieve.

Piano tuition can be provided up to intermediary (grade 5) level.

Group Tuition

Group violin tuition can be offered to small groups of two to three students who are at a similar standard.

F.A.Q.

Learn violin with ME

Lessons can be 20 minutes or 30 minutes

Yes, ideally you need your own instrument, however there are a limited number of violins available for students to use free of charge for up to a term.

Lessons can take place within the school environment if school are happy for me to visit and can offer a suitable space.

Lessons can also be delivered at my residence or sometimes at the students home depending on location

Lessons can take place during the school day (at school if they are happy for me to visit and are able to provide suitable facilities).

Lessons are also available during the day for adults and home schooled children or in the evenings or weekends for those wishing to have lessons outside of the school day.

A beginner should aim for 10-15 minutes most days. If you are more advanced about 30 minutes most days is recommended. What should be remembered is that it’s not just about the amount if time but how you spend your time. Practise should always be targeted and objective.
