Music Tuition in Education

Individual violin tuition

There are numerous benefits to playing a stringed instrument such as physical benefits (improved motor skills, posture and co-ordination), mental benefits (boosted reading and general academic skills, improved concentration and sharpened memory, enhanced discipline and lower stress levels), and a variety of social benefits (greater confidence, stronger collaboration skills, a sense of community and increased feelings of accomplishment).

School aged children who play a musical instrument often see a boost in academic achievement, according to a study by Willson Centre for Humanities and Arts. It also explains there’s a commonality of skills associated with playing a string instrument and excelling in school. These include focused attention, critical thinking, problem solving, and familiarity with teacher-student mentorship.

Tuition can be delivered on an individual basis and lessons can be 20 or 30 minutes in length.

group strings projects

Whole class strings projects can also be delivered within the school environment. These projects are aimed at foundation aged children and focus on the development of musical fundamentals such as pulse, rhythm, pitch and listening games.

The project also gives scope for non verbal responses to music through movement allowing pupils to develop expressive capabilities of their bodies to articulate concepts which they may not be able or willing to verbalise.

Strings projects are currently delivered within schools across Torfaen and Newport.

individual piano tuition

Piano tuition can also be delivered within a school environment assuming there is access to a piano.

Tuition is offered from beginner up to grade 5 level.
